The four we cannot pour fast enough
How they are made
Sixty at a time, by one person, on a Thursday.
Every candle is poured by hand in a studio on Cardigan Street. Soy and coconut wax, at a low pour temperature so the surface sets flat. Wooden wicks, because they throw fragrance faster and because the crackle is worth the extra trimming.
The stoneware is thrown by a potter in Fergus and it is meant to outlive the wax. Wash it out when you get to the last centimetre and keep it for pens, or brushes, or nothing at all.
Blend
Fragrance oils weighed to 0.1 g, cured in the wax for two weeks before a single candle is sold.
Pour
Low and slow into warmed vessels, which is the only reliable way to avoid a sunken top.
Cure
Fourteen days on the rack. A candle poured yesterday will not throw properly, whatever the label says.
Burn test
One candle out of every batch is burned down entirely in the studio before the batch ships.
Bought the Discovery Set as a hedge and came back for the 16 oz of Harrowgate Cedar within a fortnight. It is the only candle I have owned that still smells like itself at the bottom of the jar.

Not sure which one you are?
Three travel tins, one from each family, for less than the price of two. It is the honest way to buy a scent you cannot smell through a screen.
