Bellwood & Ash

Say hello

Questions, orders, or a scent you wish we made

We answer within a business day, usually sooner, and always by a person. If it is about an order, put the batch number from the base of the candle in the message and it will be quicker.

Demonstration storefront: the form validates as a live one would, but nothing is sent and no data is stored.

Before you write

Most of what lands in the inbox is one of these six.

What wax do you use?

A soy and coconut blend, poured at low temperature. Coconut wax carries fragrance better than soy alone and gives a cleaner burn than paraffin. No paraffin, no dyes, no phthalates in any fragrance we buy.

How long does a Bellwood & Ash candle burn?

About 25 hours for the 5 oz travel tin, about 55 hours for the 9 oz signature jar, and about 90 hours for the 16 oz Atelier. Those are measured burn times from our own testing, in four-hour sessions with the wick trimmed.

Why a wooden wick?

It crackles, which people either love or find distracting, and it burns with a wider, shallower pool that throws fragrance through a room faster than cotton. It also needs trimming before every burn, which is the trade.

Do you ship across Canada?

Yes, flat rate anywhere in Canada, free over $95. Orders leave the studio within two business days. We do not currently ship outside Canada.

Can I visit the studio?

Thursday to Saturday at 42 Cardigan Street in Guelph. The rest of the week we are pouring, and the door is locked because there is 80 degree wax on the bench.

Do you sell wholesale?

We do, to independent shops across Ontario. Minimum first order is 24 units, mixed however you like. There is a form on the wholesale page and Maya answers it herself.
